7:00pm. Wilshire Baptist Church.

Carter
Join Ars Nova Dallas on Saturday and Sunday for an unforgettable performances that features American master composer Elliot Carter's Triple Duo. Composed for the same instruments as Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire, plus percussion, the six instruments are treated as three sets of paired instruments, hence the title. As the composer writes, the "free fantasy involves various contrasts, conflicts and reconciliations between the three duos." Paired along with a number of scores pulled from the festival's first ever international call for scores, this program is sure to thrill the contemporary music aficionado and amateur listener alike!

9:00pm. Taste the Music at Good Records on Greenvile Ave.

Following Ars Nova Dallas, join us on Greenville at Good Records as part of our Taste the Music Series. BYOB while you enjoy The Tidbit and the Forbes/Gonzalez/Bendiks Trio.

The TIDBITS were born randomly at a surprise gig at Deep Ellum's Redblood Club on July 4th, 2000. Their totally organic improvisational freedom is held together by a noisy curiosity and rather silly determination. They shimmer like a million comets tumbling into the sun.

The Forbes/Gonzalez/Bendiks Trio features improv wizard Mike Forbes, who takes the saxophone to unexpected sonic realms with intensity and authority. He will be joined by bassist Aaron Gonzalez (Yells at Eels, Akkolyte) and drummer Gerard Bendiks (The Tidbits, The Electro-Magnetics).
