Presenting its inaugural season in 2009, the Dallas Festival of Modern Music strives to develop a world class contemporary music festival to serve the entire North Texas region. Artistic leadership is under co-founders Jordan Smith and Ryan Ross. The Dallas Festival of Modern Music is nationally unique for its significant commitment to education. We are particularly pleased to bring new music in to the public school classroom through partnerships with a number of arts organizations, including Voices of Change, Texas A&M University - Commerce, and the West Texas String Association (visit Education Initiatives above), and the festival itself will host a number of concerts featuring young musicians performing new music. A complete schedule can be found on the Performance Calendar. A particularly exciting component of the Dallas Festival of Modern Music is the presentation of Ars Nova Dallas as the resident chamber orchestra. Ars Nova will be presenting several concerts throughout Dallas featuring artists from around the nation performing works by Arnold Schoenberg, Barbara White, and Joan Tower. The festival will also be hosting solo and chamber music recitals by some of the area's finest musicians. You may learn more about these performers by following the Artists link above or the rest of the festival at Explore. A primary ideal guiding the development of the Dallas Festival of Modern Music is that of unity. Our festival seeks to use contemporary music to unite musicians and audiences from across disparate geographic regions, socioeconomic levels, and musical experience levels. Obviously, our ambitious projects costs money. If you are interested in contributing to the success of Dallas' newest arts institution, visit our Financial Support page.
